RESIDENTIAL

REDISHER LANE, HAWKSHAW, BURY

Introducing the award-winning ‘Passiv Haus’ at Greenacre, Bury – a remarkable collaboration between RGP Architects and a visionary client. This exceptional project, a regional winner of the LABC award, merges contemporary design with traditional elements to create a unique, sustainable dwelling.

Set amidst the Greenbelt landscape, the house embodies a modern barn conversion with intersecting structures at right angles, maximizing solar gain. The flat-roofed link invites occupants to stroll through the house, enjoying unobstructed views of the countryside. The dwelling takes advantage of the land’s natural slope, minimizing its impact and offering effective surface water defences.

The Greenbelt location, challenging access, and strict Passiv Haus requirements posed considerable obstacles, but through extraordinary client participation and design team coordination, RGP triumphed even amidst the Covid pandemic. With windows strategically placed to optimize views and passive solar gain, the project prioritizes the client’s wellbeing and environmental sustainability.

RGP Architects have established itself as a distinguished specialist in the field of sustainable and energy-efficient architecture, boasting an array of successful projects throughout the northwest region. As our expertise garners recognition, we are actively expanding our operations across the United Kingdom and internationally.
