Project Description

This site is currently owned by the Welsh Presbyterian Church, and is located on the major road junction of Heathfield Road and Auckland Road. Currently, the site houses the brick-built church which has become too large for the decreasing congregation, with maintenance costs increasing also.

The brief was to provide a new, smaller church building with the remaining bulk of the site developed for sheltered housing accommodation, with communal lounge, dining facilities, and on site warden accommodation. The proposed massing will ensure that the new project provides a strong gateway corner feature whilst reducing in height towards 2 storey dwellings along Auckland Road. Today, this landmark scheme has received planning permission for 44 No. catagory 2 sheltered housing apartments together with a new chapel.
