SHARPLES HALL FOLD, BLACKBURN ROAD, BOLTON

Located 3 miles from the heart of Bolton, the site along Sharples Hall Fold is occupied by the current residence. The proposed development envisages the demolition of the existing garage building and a 2.5 storey extension to the existing house. The projected development falls within a heritage and historical triangle between Astley Bridge Mill and Sharples Hall Farm, therefore, the main design challenges for this scheme were for the proposed extension to not compete nor detract appreciation with its neighbouring listed buildings but to preserve the wider range views and for the prospective building to integrate well with the surrounding architecture. With this in mind, the proposals allow for a modern yet contextual addition to the existing dwelling which will be subservient to the listed buildings in its layout, scale and massing.

The thoughtful design of the development aims to create a harmonious integration with the surrounding adjoining context and sensitive site and ensuring a high-quality scheme that preserve and respects the Grade II listed buildings.
